in late 1961 as to why their teenagers were choosing
the traditionally family-oriented Impala over
sports cars and muscle cars. But once the car
was revving its engine in their driveway, their
confusion ended. Their 1961 Impala had the 409
cubic inch V-8 engine that produced 360 horsepower
with 4 on the floor and Posi-traction, making
Chevrolet the leader in the 60s race for more
power.
