Boattail Speedster
Ask the Man Who Owns One - 1930 Packard Boattail
Speedster
Still Dominating the Prestige Market
In 1930 Packard still dominated the luxury car
market with over 50% of the sales. But the Depression
had cut sales 40% from 1929 with worse to come.
Although Packard offered their expensive Speedster
series (the Boattail sold for $5200, more than
most houses) they did nothing to promote it and
only 113 were sold of the five styles. Today the
Boattail version is the most remembered and valued.
A mint-condition version, like our replica, would
sell for over $250,000.
